A first time for everything...

so last week (week leading up to valentine's day), my girlfriend kayla n asked if i'd ever dipped strawberries before and would i like to for their annual cheese and chocolate party? well no i have never done that, i said but i'm game! so here is what i learned, and had a ball doing it!

you can use regular 'ole chocolate chips (nothing else needed), although i kicked it up a notch and got the good ones


a double boiler is a necessity (thanks to jenn s and sherry h for letting me borrow--next time i'll have my own!)


organize your space! assembly line worked for me


better not to multi-task when melting....the white chocolate chips didn't turn out so well [they burned :( ] but according to my good friend bonnie, white chocolate is a whole 'nother beast. i believe her. i did end up using those white candy melts, and those worked smashingly.

wash the strawberries, let them dry and then even pat them dry some more for best chocolate dipping results. moisture can interfere with the "hardening" of the chocolate.


although tempting, no licking fingers!


end result = eye candy you can eat!




i did half the pineapple "piña colada" style! yummy!



of course, had to let the girls get in on the "action!" pretzels, animal crackers & marshmallows to dip in their own melted chocolate kept them busy most the afternoon! aves went and found cashews in the cupboard and added that to her concoction. really don't know what THAT was!









after this, it was off to the bathtub for them!
